The Results Are In!

USA Canoe/Kayak hosted their National Team Trials on the 2013 Wave this past April 26-28 to determine Team USA for the World Championships this September. It was a big weekend in the Nantahala Gorge.

TEAM RIVER RUNNER
NOC hosted a special athlete-supported clinic for Team River Runner (TRR) paddlers on Friday, April 26 following the preliminary round of the US Team Trials competition. The clinic was held at Nantahala Falls, and will be open to all TRR chapters in the Southeast. During the event, the NOC Outfitter Store also ran a "Roundup" to benefit TRR. Shoppers were asked if they would like to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, leaving the change to benefit TRR.

Team River Runner is a non-profit organization that gives active duty service members and veterans an opportunity to find health, healing and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports.

SPRING FLING
NOC's Spring Fling celebrates all of the best things about springtime in the American Southeast! There was free live music and local brews, check out wares by local artisans, and demos of the season's hottest new outdoor gear.

THE NANTAHALA OPEN
The 9th annual Nantahala Open, which raises money for Team River Runner, took place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 am - 3 pm, at Nantahala Falls just above the raft take-outs. The Open is a fun competition; open to all boaters no matter the experience or ability, consisting of categories for every skill level – and the prizes that go along with them!

Through the generosity of Wave Sport, a boat of choice was raffled off at the end of the evening. Raffle proceeds go to support a Team River Runner event on the Nantahala.
